NINETOES VS. THE TROLL

Ninetoes watched The Troll and came away convinced that there is no way he would be willing to be a teenager in today’s world.

Hey there, movie lovers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today, I am taking a look at Brianna Lee’s The Troll. I have popcorn in my system and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!

The main thing this movie does is place a focus on today’s social media world of clicks and likes. As I watched it, the phrase “Remember to click, like, and subscribe!” rolled through my head the entire time on auto-repeat!

Killa B is a social media star loved the world over. If she is not promoting her music, meeting fans, and mailing merch, she is checking her social media stats, including the comments. She just loves (and I do mean LOVES) positive comments from her fans. While checking these beloved comments, she notices a negative comment, and it throws her into a tailspin. She must find this person and possibly teach them a lesson. Oh, this rabbit hole is deep. So very, very deep. And dangerous.

There is a lesson in this movie. Words have consequences. The consequences can be good or bad, depending on the words. If you are going to leave a negative comment on ANYTHING online, just consider who is on the other end. The main character, Killa B, is not a paragon of stability in any sense of the word. What she does makes you wonder who the actual troll in the movie is.

The acting is not that bad in the movie. The cast is relatively unknown, but they did get the assignment. It may not be Academy Award-winning performances, but it got the job done and the point made.

It is the story that shines. I almost wonder if most of it came from personal experiences on the part of Brianna Lee. This movie should be viewed as a cautionary tale. The “gotcha” moment comes at the very end, and when it hits, it does so with the force of a wrecking ball.

This movie is perfect for anyone who might wonder what happens on the other side of the TikTok screen.

Until the next time, I bid you happy viewing!
