What We’re Looking For:

Memento Mori Ink Magazine seeks thought-provoking, non-fictional articles that explore the darker aspects of life, death, culture, and the human experience. We are particularly interested in pieces that delve into:

  • Mortality and Death: Essays that examine cultural, philosophical, or personal perspectives on death and the rituals surrounding it.
  • Gothic Culture:Analysis of gothic literature, art, fashion, and the lifestyle that embraces the macabre.
  • Dark Aesthetics: Articles exploring the beauty and significance of dark aesthetics in various forms of media, including art, film, and music.
  • True Crime: In-depth, well-researched articles on historical or contemporary true crime stories, with a focus on lesser-known cases.
  • Psychological Exploration:** Essays that analyze the darker side of the human psyche, such as fear, grief, or the allure of the unknown.


Please note that we do not accept short stories or any form of fiction. All submissions must be non-fictional and original, with a strong voice and unique perspective. You are welcome to submit your pieces elsewhere but please let us know if it is accepted, as we reserve the right to refuse previously published pieces!

Price List: These prices are subject to change, we will notify you when accepted of our offer.

Columns/Op-Eds (500 words max): $35-$40

Please use the following link to submit articles, reviews, and more to Memento Mori Ink. If you are not current staff, we will do our best to read through your submission and get back to you within 6-8 weeks. Please take note that all articles submitted may not be suited for current issues but may be a fit for an upcoming article. If you plan to submit elsewhere, please let us know if you need to withdraw your submission as soon as possible. Payment for articles will be made before publication of your article and may vary. If you are not a staff member, we will reach out to you with an offer for the article.

Reviews (Anything but book reviews) (100-200 words): $15

Please see below for submission criteria. As we are always on a tight deadline, we cannot accept your submission if the following parameters cannot be followed. This also shows us how easy you are to work with and if you will follow directions.

  1. Please ensure that your document has your full legal name and email
  2. Please ensure your document also includes a payment method. Currently, I will only be making payments via PayPal or Zelle. If these do not work for you, please do not submit without speaking directly with Lisa Vasquez, Editor-in-Chief.
  3. Please make sure you are using either an Arial font or Times New Roman, only.
  4. Do not TAB your paragraphs. We will do all formatting. Please do not make it pretty; it makes it a nightmare when we try to format our magazine.
  5. No AI.
  6. If you have images, your article will not be printed unless you have rights to the images, full credit to the photographer if applicable, and a release form from the photographer to use said images. Images must be high-resolution quality.
  7. Signing the submission form means the work is authentically yours and not copied or plagiarized in any form.
