Liz Ramos, under the supervision of Robyn the cat, shares how to use America’s favorite morning brew in your spellcrafting…
Greetings witches! While sipping some evening coffee at work with someone, I got asked an important question – “is coffee magical, and how can you use it to make magic?” At my response of “yes, coffee is” I got an excited shriek and insistence for this week’s piece to deep dive on her favorite drink. So, Miss Kit-Kat, this one’s for you!
Coffee when looked at through a metaphysical lens is used for boosting, accelerating, or awakening – just like it does to our physical bodies from the caffeine intake. Coffee added to spells where you need a lot of power and OOMPH is a great way to do so in a grounded, earthy way ( as opposed to spicy peppers or using fire which can quickly get out of control). If you are working magic that seems to be moving slowly or are casting new workings that you need an immediate known outcome for, sprinkle your coffee in. Coffee is especially useful for opening your third eye to allow focus and creativity to come in if you are having a mental block or are unsure of what to do next – just like sipping a cup of coffee while working out the budget or working on projects has helped me to keep my focus on my tasks!

How do you use the coffee in your spellwork? If you are making a creativity/focus jar, put a few spoonfulls of coffee in the bottom as an earthy, grounding base. Add some cinnamon to draw in abundance of opportunity (and finance), and build from there. Another spell you can do is to make a cup of instant coffee, and as you stir the crystals and fixin’s in (clockwise), envision all of the good things and experiences you would like to draw in for the day. Drink and Enjoy. Likewise, to banish or repel from you, stir counterclockwise.
Now on to the coffee flavorings – as we discussed last year when talking all about Pumpkin Spice, your coffee flavoring and the spices used have meanings. What does your coffee flavoring say about you? If you are a black coffee person, your coffee can aid you in self-transformation and seeing truths that cannot be hidden. Black coffee can help break blockages, and is also a great offering to the guides and spirit team when completing shadow work. If you like hazelnut coffee, your coffee can aid you in fertility and marriage success. In Celtic mythology, hazel is the tree of knowledge, so brew some hazelnut coffee while continuing your witchcraft studies (see my articles on great books to sink into if you are not sure where to start).
However you drink your coffee, may your cup be full and your day be filled with magic and wonder. Blessed be witches!
