Ninetoes is a day-one, boots-on-the-ground player of Cyberpunk 2077. With the newest update, is it worth playing or a massive pass?
Hey there, gamers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ with a look at the current update of Cyberpunk 2077. I’ve got my controller in hand and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!
When Cyberpunk 2077 released almost six years ago, it was a buggy mess across the board. I blame the hype, the developers, and most of all, the fans. I said it! The fans are as much to blame for the buggy mess as the developers. We read every article, and waited…and waited, and waited. Every article that came out increased the hype to the point that we, the players, WANTED IT NOW! So, CD Projekt Red released it, then we, the players, smacked them straight in the chops for the buggy nature of the game.

Much to their credit, CD Projekt Red made the necessary improvements, and the true fans hung in there. We finally got the promised game, and then some. Let’s give credit where credit is due: the team at CD Projekt Red listens to the fans.
Well, on October 22, 2026, a 50GB update was launched into the game. I was a bit shocked by the size, truth be told. But then I did some digging to find out what the update was about.
The first thing to note is that this update is available across all platforms (PC, MAC app store, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2), and it is free for anyone who owns Cyberpunk 2077.
Next, there is new content: a side quest called “Clampdown” that you get from finishing The Heist quest and two Wakako side quests. This is set before the events of NETFLIX’s series Edgerunners season 2. We also get a King-inspired five-piece gear set upon completion. There is a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, that has the music from the Edgerunners series. Finally, we get a new mission, “Welcome to Paradise,” with twelve new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards.
For gameplay updates, we have the following: a new perk card in the cool skill tree called “Double Trouble” that allows dual wielding for power pistols and revolvers; new hand cyberware customizations (Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, Projectile Launch System) available from 5 different glamdocs; new clothing collections; and a new photomode.
Players will also be able to get some Witcher 3-inspired gear such as new cosmetics and melee weapons, including: the Boar Carver, Sihil Sword, Ursine Jacket & Pants, and Professor’s Spectacles.
Now, all of this is well and good, but the big question is: “How does it play?” Well, let me tell you, CD Projekt Red kept their initial promise. In fact, it is at the point now where it has exceeded all of my expectations. The graphics are better, the flow is improved, the action is everything one could want in a shooter/rpg.
If you initially bought the game and dropped it due to it being a buggy mess, I am happy to say the bugs are gone! If you were on the fence about buying it because of all of the reported issues, now is the time to get it. In a word, this game is sublime!
