Liz Ramos, under the supervision of Misty the cat, shares ways to use your craft to help you through the seasonal sickness….
Greetings witches! As I sit here and type with the seasonal sniffles, I wanted to share some ways you can use your craft before you get sick and while you’re glued to your sofa with that box of tissues.
Before you get sick, make yourself some fire cider! This takes 2-4 weeks of infusion time, so if you want it by the time the Yule Yuckies come around, make it NOW. This is a potion made of apple cider vinegar, horseradish root, onion, garlic, honey, cayenne, and other ingredients. Once it is all brewed up, take a shot a day as an immune booster/sickness preventative, or use while sick to aid in the healing process.

Another great step to take before being sick is to have your apothecary stocked and ready to go. Basics to have in it include echinacea, ginger, mullein, marshmallow root, calendula, elderberry/elderflower, chamomile, lavender, hibiscus, turmeric, black pepper, and a nice jar of fresh, raw honey. And while we are on the subject of honey – did you know it is the only food in the world that does not spoil or expire? If yours gets crystallized and hard DO NOT THROW IT OUT. You can still use it and melt it into your tea in your teacup! That is a big old lump of healing gold. Have a container of your blended tea ready to go for sickness season, so that all you need to do is put a diffuser ball together and make it by the cup or pot full when you’re congested and don’t want to move around. I like to make a pot full and sip throughout the day to keep myself hydrated.
If you are a practitioner who works with deities, Brigid is a great one to call on for aid when ill. If you are a follower of her, you probably already have your Brat Bride from Imbolc ready to go. If you do, lay that over you as you rest. If you don’t have one, that’s ok. As you speak to her, leave an offering of tea with honey or fiery spirits (Fireball, cinnamon whiskey, etc.). Ask her to please offer her healing fires and waters to you. You can also leave a cup of water and ask her to bless this for you.
May you be blessed and free from the seasonal sickness this season. Blessed be.
