Ninetoes has always appreciated the Gears of War Saga. Is E-Day a worthy addition?
Hey there, gamers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ with a look at Gears of War: E-Day. I have my controller in hand, and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after so many years at war, peace has finally come to Sera. We can move on with our lives. <Rumble. Yes, we can finally <RUMble move on with our <RUMBLE did anyone else feel that…?
Just when you thought the Gears could finally relax, a new threat is pouring out of the earth of Sera. That’s right, the guys with biceps like watermelons are back, and they are better than ever!

Just a heads up, do yourself a favor and watch the cutscenes; they are there for a reason. I know you are itching for a fight, and you want to jump in feet first to get down and dirty. Appreciate what the game developers have given you, especially in the beginning. Also, when given the prompt to go through training, take it. That is, unless you have been playing nothing but Gears of War. It is a good idea to clear the cobwebs and rust out of your head and fingers.
The good news is the controls have not changed. It will be like riding a bike after you fell off. That being said, it did take a beat for the ol’ muscle memory to kick in and let me effectively kick some ass. But once I got used to everything, whoa Nellie! I was a lean, mean killing machine.
The graphics are superb. When you start in the city, you can visually taste the city! EVERYTHING is alive. From blinking lights to the steam coming out of grates, to the bar you start in. Everything pulses with life.
The sounds are excellent and pair very well with the visuals. The gunshots are better and make more of a punctuation to taking an enemy down. Instead of a period, you finish that sentence with an exclamation point! The ambient sounds add that element of being right there beside the characters as they fight.
The action is fast and furious. The gameplay is smooth and familiar, as are the characters. This game is a welcome addition to the Gears of War franchise and a welcome love letter to the fans.
