NINETOES VS. THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN LIVES!

Ninetoes got his paws on an advance copy of the forthcoming THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN LIVES comic series, and we have to know if it was worth raising the dead.

Hey there comic book/graphic novel lovers! It’s your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today, I am looking at a preview of the upcoming four-issue series The Bride of Frankenstein Lives. I have coffee in my system, and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!

There are moments when I know how much my editor loves me. This is one such moment. Maybe he is aware of how much I love Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein. Maybe he is aware of how much I love a good story or fantastic comic book art. Maybe…but then again, certain moments in life turn on such things, such as when he sent me a preview copy of The Bride of Frankenstein Lives. Yes, I dare say he really loves me!

This book is, for lack of a stronger term, sublime. The art is breathtaking. Seriously, when you look into the Bride’s eyes, they come alive, and you will feel. The Bride herself is absolutely breathtaking, as is the world she inhabits. Every bit of art was done with love and care.

The story is very well written. We get the Bride as she is reborn, telling HER story, and it is tragic. She was born in pain, and it just amplifies as she goes through the story. For the most part, we hear the story in her own words, even though she speaks very little to the inhabitants of her world. There are sentences in this book that stand out to me. Here are some examples: “Freedom is an organic idea. Creatures are born free. Wild. It is their natural state.” “Was this all life was? Pain. And then more pain? An unfortunate reward for survival.” Oh my, how these words flow and speak to me.

Sure, this book is a comic book, but it flows like a movie. The pages move effortlessly, and I want more! Oh, how I want more! There are moments of love, joy, sorrow, fear, anger. I ran the gamut of my emotions, and I wanted to feel more, give more, experience more. AND this is just the first of a four-part series! What’s worse is I have to wait until October 28, 2026 and afterwards! Sure, I am a patient man. I pride myself on my patience. But I can only be patient for so long…

I have gone over this preview five times now. Each time is better than the last. In my honest opinion, this is as close to perfection as a comic book has reached in a long while. Every panel is engaging and truly beautiful to behold.

If you are a fan of Universal Monsters, Frankenstein, or The Bride of Frankenstein, this book is most definitely for you. It is a love letter to the fans! It is also a love letter to new fans, because once you read this, you will want to get your hands on the source material!
