FATHER’S DAY GIFT IDEAS!

Ninetoes polled the staff of Memento Mori Ink and has come up with a last minute Father’s Day gift giving guide… for the Dad who likes to read.

Hey there, book lovers. It is your old pal, Ninetoes, and it is that time of year when I have some suggestions for books for the dad in your life. Here is a little secret that some of y’all might not be aware of…come in a little closer….closer….your dad likes to read. I know it is shocking. Take a moment to let that settle in. What’s more, you can bring more joy to your dad with a book than with an expensive tie, power tool, or barbecue set. Just to make it a little easier for you, I am going to put some genres with a book for each that I have loved.

Let’s get to it!!!!

Cooking– The Barbecue Bible by Steven Raichlen will give your dad plenty of tips and tricks to up his grilling game.

History– Vengeance by Tom Clavin takes an in-depth look at the Battle of Little Bighorn, otherwise known as “Custer’s Last Stand.” This book is recently published, just in time for the 150th anniversary of that infamous battle.

LITERATURE The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is a personal favorite of mine. It is the telling of a family who travels west to California in search of the American Dream, and only finds more of what they left behind.

SCIENCE FICTION Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is one of the best sci-fi novels I have read all year. Follow Ryland Grace as he travels light-years from home to stop the destruction of Earth. Come for Ryland, stay for his alien counterpart Rocky. You’ll be “Amaze Amaze Amaze”.

HORROR The God Provides by Thomas R. Clark follows the McEntire clan and the deadly secrets they hold. This is one of the more interesting horror books I have read in a while. Take a peek and see why Mr. Clark is called “the Master of Spaltterfolk”.

FANTASY The Devils by Joe Abercrombie, now this book is in my TBR pile, but it is quickly rising to the top. In fact, I might just start it tonight!

DARK THRILLER Cubby by Jyl Glenn is one of those books that will take you by surprise. Just how much damage can a Teddy Bear do? Read this and find out…if you dare!

MYSTERY The Black Echo by Michael Connelly. By now, I am sure your dad is a fan of the Amazon show “Bosch”. This is the first book in the bestselling saga!

Finally, what would Father’s Day be without a book of….

DAD JOKES The Great Book of Dad Jokes: Extra Cheesy Edition by Samuel Davie.

This is just a sampling of all of the wonderful books out there. You know your dad best, so all you have to do at this point is go to your local bookstore and wander the aisles.
