The name is Toes, Ninetoes, and I have a license to review IO Interactive’s 007 First Light!
Hey there, gamers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ with a look at IO Interactive’s 007 First Light. I have my controller in hand, and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!
I’ve waited a good long while for this game, and as time went by the hype increased. I started to get concerned. I have been burned a few times on a AAA Rated over hyped game.
Fortunately, 007 First Light is worth every bit of hype and then some.

As you can tell, by the number, you are playing James Bond, Ian Fleming’s creation, star of books and screen (and a few video games). You are starting from the ground up, literally. You start as a cadet in the Air Corps, survive your training mission, and you get recruited into His Majesty’s Secret Service.
The training missions help you get used to the controls. They are not difficult; a lot of them will be familiar to modern-day gamers. That being said, they are fluid, I would even go as far as to say graceful.
There are several types of controls in this game:
1) Movement (including stealth), where you have everything from regular walk, to run, to dash to consider. These are easily remembered.
2) Hand-to-hand combat. It is just what it says. Hit, block, parry, dodge, kick, heavy attack.
3) Guns/projectile combat. Basically, your left trigger to aim, right trigger to shoot
4) Driving. Right trigger accelerates, left trigger brakes, the A button hand-brake
5) Q-Phone. This will be your left bumper+A, X, Y, B buttons for different functions.
These controls are almost identical to IO Interactive’s Hitman: World of Assassination. Anyone familiar with this game will have little problem mastering these controls.
The graphics are visually stunning. If you are not careful, you can get lost in the scenery alone and forget your mission. The other thing to note is that your mission areas are vast and easy to get lost in. Sure, you have a compass, and you can use the Q-Phone to find hints, etc., but getting from Point A to Point B can at times be like a mouse running a maze to get to some cheese.
The voice acting is superb, as is the motion capture on the actors. There are times I feel as though I am playing a movie, and then there are others where I know it is a game; in that sense, there is some difference in the character graphics.
The music is everything you want in a game dedicated to James Bond. The developers even gave us an obligatory James Bond opening number when you get past the initial mission, and I have to give two very enthusiastic thumbs up!
