EDITOR’S NOTE: Once again, I will make this as spoiler free as possible, revealing only what we are told in in the last episode and ambiguous details about the current one.

The Producers of FROM continue to do it right, building the tension, giving us answers to questions, and creating more mysteries as we go. Yet, it seems that in the wake of season four’s fourth episode, OF MYTHS AND MONSTERS, a portion of the FROMily (the thing many FROM fans call their base) is transforming into WWE fans. WWE, and wrestling fans in general, are notorious for being toxic trolls when mentioning sports entertainment on social media. They’re never happy with a story or how it’s presented. Serialized TV seems to bring this out in too many people. FROM is no different. NOTHING HAPPENED! THIS WAS BORING! THIS USED TO BE GOOD NOW IT JUST SUCKS! Put your phones down, people, and quit your bitching, or I’m gonna lock you in the shed.

What did we learn with this episode? A whole ton. Fatima is making a…Golem, but more so, she admits to feeling a connection to Smiley. Sophia moves in with Sara. The voices in Sara’s head are back and they’re 100% the Man In Yellow, and we learn how truly insidious this mad entity is. Victor digs up more of his drawings from the last time the Man in Yellow arrived in town, and fills his Father in on the details. Jade goes tripping on ‘shrooms. Julie gets a hair cut, goes storywalking again, and discovers she is repelled by anyone with a taste for livers. She also learns that folding a page over doesn’t make for a good bookmark. Miranda threatens Randall with Righteous Latino Mom Revenge if allows anything to happen to her daughter. Then Donna turns the tables and gives Miranda a hip load of shit for wanting to abandon her kids and put them on Donna’s shoulders. This leads to Ethan enlisting his mother in his quest to find the Lake of Tears. Finally, we want to know what the fuck did they dredge up in the closing moments of the show?

The writers are pacing this very well. Though we know the end is coming, it doesn’t seemed rushed in any manner (as is evident from the unapproving trolls), and that’s a good thing. For example, there’s nothing new for Acosta, as one can assume she’s too busy sifting through the “evidence.” Her presence wasn’t required in this episode. So out of what we’ve learned in OF MYTHS AND MONSTERS, a few things can be assumed: 1. Tillie was more than likely the Man in Yellow, as we see more of what he does to manipulate the residents of FROMville. Tillie orchestrated the resurrection of Smiley, that much is clear if you revisit her appearances. Who else recalls how when she arrived, she celebrated, dancing in the rain? 2. Julie will be intersecting with her father’s murder sooner than later. 3. Something fucked up has to happen as we reach the midpoint of the season, and I think that might be next week with the revelation of what the things they found in the lake are. Trailers and leaked online images seem to indicate something horrifying, on the lines of animated cabbage patch kid scarecrows on a mission.

We have reached a milestone with FROM, too. Thus far, the ONLY fan theory that has come to fruition revolves around Julie’s hair: “She will cut it to prevent the monsters from grabbing her by it.” And voila… that happened and she told Randall as much. CONGRATULATIONS, INTERNET! YOU GOT ONE RIGHT… even the sun shines on a dog’s ass once in a while. I’m seeing parallels and correlations between Christopher’s ventriloquism dummy and Fatima’s golem. What about you?

Next up is episode 5, What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been, wherein Boyd and Jade set off on a desperate, mind-bending search for answers, while a food run to the settlement takes a chilling turn. Will we see any Grateful Dead dancing bears? What do you all think?
