TOM VS. FROM SEASON 4 EPISODE 3 Merrily We Go

Things get talky in Merrily We Go, episode 3 of season four of MGM+’s horror phenomena, FROM.

Boyd tries to save Acosta from herself as Julie digs deeper into her newfound abilities. Tabitha embarks on a desperate gamble and Victor joins Ethan in a quest for answers.

FROM Season 4 Episode 3, Merrily We Go or “all they did was talk” if you listen to the internet. I’m prefacing this with “enough of the bitching that it’s slow and nothing is happening.” Loads is happening if you’d stay off your phones while watching. Y’all need to stop acting like wrasselin’ fans. With that being said, let’s move on. The title is a reference to the Wizard of Oz, so down the (Man in) yellow brick road we travel… but what will we find?

The main plot points covered in this episode include: Sophia/The Man in Yellow continuing to insidiously tear apart the residents of FROMville with an innocent smile and tears. And now she’s chosen to room with the town’s pariah? Things are going to get interesting, that’s for sure. Julie and Randall go to the library for some book We get an appearance by the Boy in White… warning Tabitha and Henry not to go into the Bottle Tree… and he’s getting older by the day. Boyd gives Acosta a job utilizing her policing skills, while he wrestles with how much she reminds him of Abby. We have a funeral and a murder of crows arrives (much to Sophia’s chagrin…) Ethan needs to find THE LAKE OF TEARS, and it’s not the swimming hole. Poor Elgin. Last episode he got shit laid out to him in black and white by Boyd, and now Fatima has enlisted him for something… weirder. But hey, at least Ellis took her to a rage room, allowing her to exorcise some of those demons. And finally, something Victor discovers sends him into a catatonic state. He knows what’s coming and time is running out.

Though there wasn’t a lot of action, and no night-time visits by the monsters, there was plenty to bite on with Merrily We Go. These are the sort of episodes in a series that are lower on the budget, but give us more than enough story-line insight. We’re seeing how Sophia manipulates people. Poor, poor Kenny is going to get more than his heart ripped out if he keeps it up. And when that moment comes, if Boyd or someone doesn’t shout out “THEY KILLED KENNY!” I will be disappointed. She doesn’t like the crows, for whatever reason, that much was obvious. I once again fall back on Tilly also being the Man in Yellow. Other journalists covering the show are pointing fingers at anyone and anything… except Tilly. THIS DUDE HERE WITH A YELLOW SHIRT THAT WE HAVEN’T SEEN SINCE… etc and so on. Sometimes people are just people. And unless those “stand-ins” (because that’s what they are, like stock photos) say or do something… they’re just extras. Yes, we have 47 people in the town, but the narrative focuses on a dozen of them, the leaders and those who circle around them.

Our next episode is entitled “Of Myths and Monsters,” and I think it will give us some answers based on the title, alone. Typically the middle episodes of a series are where they limit the budgets, but with this season once again being a 10-episode arc, I think we could be in for some action.
