Hey there, television lovers. It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today I am looking at episodes nine and ten of Star Wars: Maul: Shadow Lord . I have coffee in my system, and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!
The Empire has tightened its iron fist over the planet Janix, as a planet-wide curfew is in effect. Maul offers the fugitives (Devon, her master, Lawson, and his son) a way off the planet. You know, even as I type this, I still have trust issues where this is concerned. Then again, with this deal, trust is in short supply. It does not help that the Eleventh Brother is hot on their heels. Hmmmm….Jedi and Sith working together? Whatever is this world coming to?
There is an OMFG moment at the end of episode nine that leads into episode ten that Star Wars fans have longed for since 1999.
Episode ten starts with a bang and does not really let up. The action is relentless. Between lightsaber battles and gunfights, everyone is in it until the very end. Light side and Dark side together, but will Devon succumb to the promises of the Dark Side? Remember the path to the Dark Side: Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
The final two episodes of this season lived up to the promise set in the beginning. The writing has remained consistent in quality as has the voice acting. The animation has been breathtaking from the beginning, and this is the way Star Wars animated features should be treated going forward.
This season has exceeded my expectations from the beginning. As an OG Star Wars fan (I was there in 1977 when it was just “Star Wars”, no episodes…), I am VERY satisfied with the way this show was treated, and I want MORE!
Luckily, it was left wide open for a second season.
Until the next time, May The Force Be With You, and Happy STAR WARS DAY!
