Hey there, television lovers. It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today, I am looking at episodes five and six of Star Wars: Maul: Shadow Lord. I have coffee in my system, and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!
At the end of episode four, the Empire arrived…
…things have changed and not for the better, for everyone involved. The Empire has the city locked down. The police chief and Captain Lawson are being interrogated for their knowledge of Maul. As bad as that is, remember, there are two Jedi in the mix.
The tension has ramped up in these two episodes. With the arrival of The Empire, everything has been thrown off kilter. The iron fist of the Empire descended quickly, and it was in a way that made my heart skip a beat for those involved, and not necessarily the heroes. You see the interactions with everyday citizens, and it really smacks of what is going on in cities around the country. That was a wake-up call in and of itself.
The skipping heartbeat is a testament to the writing and voice acting. Both go hand in hand with the fantastic animation this series has provided so far. The heroes (Captain Lawson and the Jedi) are on the run and fighting for their lives. Lawson’s son joins the mix, and things get tighter for Lawson. This is a true testament to a father’s love.
Maul is seldom seen in episode 5. When he makes his appearance in Episode 6, the fight is on! The fight on the train is epic in scope as well as claustrophobic. If you are sensitive to flashing lights, this sequence will really get the better of you, so please be warned.
Each episode has gotten better than the previous. Each are showcases of excellence in story, animation, acting, and music. I can honestly say I am excited to see where it goes from here!
Until the next time, I bid you happy viewing!
