NINETOES VS. DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN EP205

Ninetoes was glued to the television for this episode of Daredevil Born Again, and might need to lie down, but does he have the time to do so?

The Anti-Vigilante Task Force intensifies its search for Daredevil and Bullseye.

Directed by Angela Barnes

Written by Dario Scardapane

Starring Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ayelet Zurer, and Wilson Bethel

Hey there, television lovers. It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today, I am looking at episode five of Daredevil: Born Again. I have coffee in my system, and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!

You have to pay attention in this episode. Like, really get your eyes on because it goes from the here and now to the past.

Here and now: Daredevil and Bullseye are on the run. The AVTF is turning the city upside down looking for them. Vanessa is in the hospital with a very worried Mayor (husband) by her side.

The past: Foggy and Matt working in the public defender’s office, before they opened the law offices of Nelson and Murdock. Wilson Fisk meets Vanessa in the art gallery with the white painting. How Buck came into the employ of Wilson Fisk.

All of it gave one of the best hours of drama I have seen this year. There are several gut punches straight to the feels, and I felt every damned blow. It is a beautiful balance between writing and acting, and everyone was on their A-game. The standouts for this episode are Vincent D’Onofrio and Ayelet Zurer. You will see what I mean.

One thing to pay attention to is the costumes. Wilson Fisk goes from all white to dark pants and a blue shirt. Then there is Daredevil. Look closely at his costume. Is the black rubbing off, or is it the blood that has been spilled for the first four episodes catching up?

There is an unspoken character in this episode…FATE. Fate lurks all through this episode and moves the pieces on the board in such a way that you get a feeling for what is going to come.  Foggy and Matt have to represent a guy who tormented Foggy as a kid. Was it fate that they had to represent this particular person? Vanessa and Wilson are fated to meet and take over New York City. Buck is fated to become the right hand of Mayor Fisk. So many strands intertwining in this episode. All it will take is one strand to be cut for all hell to break loose, and Fate has her scissors in hand…

I am still reeling from this episode. I might need to go lie down, get a drink, or ruminate over everything I just saw.

Until the next time, I bid you happy viewing.
