Hey there, book lovers! It’s your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes Loves Books Headquarters. Today, I am looking at All The Things You Cannot See: an Horror Anthology. I have coffee in my system and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!
I love an anthology. The main reason is that I am introduced to new authors, and when the anthology features what I would call “indie” authors, it is even better. Such is the case with this book. Eleven authors bring us eleven tales of terror dealing with the deep blue sea. Now, I will say that I am not afraid of water, but I also have a healthy respect for what resides there. The authors take what resides in the water and add some oomph to it. Like major oomph.
Sometimes it is a tickle to the brain, the faint whisper that calls you to the sea.
Sometimes it is a total gut punch of emotional baggage.
Sometimes it is a rocket kick to the crotch.
And all the time, there are things that you don’t want to encounter, but the authors in this book grab you by the short hairs and twist and turn, and even pull. Not to get your attention. Hell, when you crack open the first page, they have your undivided attention. No, they do all of this to hold you in for the long haul, and you will willingly go.
Heaven help you, you willingly go for the ride.
The quality of each story it top tier. The pacing, from author to author, is consistent, and that is the part that really got me. Sometimes with an anthology, you get what I call a “cool down” story just to help you get your wits about you. Not here, ladies and gentlemen. When you are finished, you will feel like you went eleven rounds with the Rocky Balboa equivalent of a shark, and you will want more.
I did.
I do!
Would I recommend this book to my friends? Yes!
Is it worth the money? Yes!
If nothing else, it is a perfect beach read. (get it, ocean terror, beach read…?)
This book is perfect for those who love the ocean and are afraid of it.
I give this book 5 bookmarks out of 5!
