NINETOES VS DEAD RISING DELUXE REMASTERED

Ninetoes loves his Xbox, and he loves remastered games, but does it have the same nostalgia as the original?

Hey there, gamers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ with a look at my next choice for Spooky Games to play in October, Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered. I have coffee in my system, and my thinking cap on so let’s get to it!

There is a trap that has come into this current generation of console games. It is the word “remastered”. Some companies are so hot to cash in on gamer nostalgia, they will get their hands on an older title that was popular and do some work to bring it to this current generation of console games. A lot of times, it is just recoding the game for today’s consoles and that is it.

This is NOT the case with Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered.

The original Dead Rising came in at around 6+GB. The deluxe remastered version of the game comes in at around 61+GB, and the improvements are seen from the very beginning!

The story is the same. The mechanics are the same. If that is the case, what was improved? For starters, the graphics. Frank West has never looked better, and as for the supporting cast of the game, they were improved as well. Let’s not forget the real stars of the game…the ever-persistent zombie horde! You can almost smell the rot coming off of them, and the blood they shed! This is remastering done right!

You are Frank West, a photojournalist who is trapped in a shopping mall in the town of Willamette, Colorado. You have heard rumors of something strange going on in the town, and as you fly in there by helicopter, you see the major roads blocked off by the military, and its citizens on the run from other citizens. What has driven everyone mad? Why is everyone gathered at the mall? Why is the mall surrounded by a horde of people? These are the questions that you have 72 hours to get to the bottom of. Yes, you are literally on the clock. Your helicopter will return in 72 hours, and if you are not on the roof by then, you will fall as the rest of Willamette has.

For those not familiar with the game or the mechanics, this is a third-person game where anything you can pick up can be used as a weapon against the zombies. We are talking about anything from planters in the mall, to CDs, to benches, to swords, baseball bats, a lawn mower, you name it, it can be used! That being said, your weapons will break down, and you have a carry limit, so when they break, switch up, and pick up another item.

This is a game that premiered on the Xbox 360, and my son and I played this game for hours on end. It is not a two-player game, but we would take turns and remark on how “I never thought you could do that…” among other things. Yeah, this was a stepfather/son bonding game.

This game is perfect for anyone who wants to play a survival-horror game involving zombies, and anyone who loves a good story!
