NINETOES VS PEACE MAKER EP 208

After a much hyped lead up, the second season finale of PEACEMAKER is leaving the fanbase polarized with an anti-climatic episode, so what does Ninetoes think of it?

As Flag puts everyone around him in increasing danger, the 11th Street Kids must convince Peacemaker that he’s one of them.

Directed by James Gunn

Starring John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, and Frank Grillo

Hey there, television lovers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today I am looking at the season finale of Peacemaker.  I have coffee in my system and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!

Okay, let’s see…popcorn? Check. Kool-aid? Check! Comfortable? Check! Boy oh boy, this is going to be good! I cannot wait to see the season finale. Peacemaker is gonna kick some major ass, right? Right? Ummm…guys…where’s the ass kicking? Oh, they are gonna save it for the very end, right?… Right?

Flag has the portal device, and he is sending agents in to explore the doors, but he is not telling anyone what it is he is looking for. Chris is in jail, and he has accepted it, calling himself “The Angel of Death”. In his mind, he is right where he belongs, but his friends do not think so. What do they do? They raid Adrian’s cash stash and bail him out, but Chris disappears. The 11th Street Kids have a plan for the future, and they want Chris to be a part of it, but where is he? Can they find him and move on to a better future for all of them? And what the hell is Flag looking for? Finally, what does it have to do with avenging his son?

This whole season has been built on action, story, and acting ability in that order. It is a pattern that I, as a fan of the show, have come to expect. That being said, I went into this episode with high expectations. The story was good. The acting was good (let’s face it, it is hard for Cena to outdo last episode), the action….Was. Not. There. WTF? As season finales go, this one has to be one of the weakest I have seen since The Sopranos series finale. Yeah, there is a cliffhanger to bring me back for next season, but cheese and crackers, it could have been more. I’ve seen more action in a hangnail video.

I cannot say that the entire episode was actionless; there was some stuff in exploring the doorways, but it comes off as lackluster and pales in comparison to the rest of the season. I know it is unrealistic to expect action all the time, but when you build a season on high action, it is unrealistic to give the fans of the show an ice bath and not expect them to complain.

For me, the best part of the show was a montage song that is…how shall we say…inappropriate to the hilt? I quoted it in my chat group, and I think I broke everyone’s brain for a few minutes. Oh, and you get to see the band that sings this season’s theme song, singing it on an onboard riverboat cruise. The song is “Oh, Lord” by Foxy Shazam! Seeing them was a chef’s kiss moment for the show.

This whole season is perfect for DCU fans, John Cena fans, Peacemaker fans, and Action/Drama fans.

I give this episode 4 remote controls out of 5.

I give this season 4.5 remote controls out of 5.
