FX gave us the season finale of ALIEN EARTH last night, but does Ninetoes think the polarizing series merit a second season?
A new power dynamic emerges.
Directed by Dana Gonzalez
Written by Noah Hawley and Migizi Pensoneau, based on concepts by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett
Starring Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, and Essie Davis

Hey there, television lovers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today I am looking at the final episode of Alien Earth. I have coffee in my system and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!
There is a xenomorph loose on the island, the “kids” are locked up, and Wendy comes to a dramatic realization and discovers a new ability. That is all….
…or is it?
If I had to pick one word for this episode, it would be tense. Oh, it is so very, very tense, just the way you would want a final act for a television show based on the Alien franchise to be, and it is totally off the rails! You would think a xenomorph loose on the island would be the worst of it, but that is small potatoes compared to what goes on inside the compound. And just what would happen if the xenomorph got inside as well? Would the potatoes still be small, or would we be left with potato salad?
The writing for this episode was spot on. As far as conclusions go, this one was left wide open, you know, just in case it was a hit and they wanted to do a second season. That is not to say I was dissatisfied with this episode. No, far from it. This episode tickled my franchise-loving heart! When you reach the final scene, take it in. Take a moment and check the surroundings and appreciate just what is going on.
The acting, as usual, was top-notch. Sydney Chandler stole the show. She was stunningly impassive about everything that was going on, and through that, I could see the true power shift take place. Samuel Blenkin’s (Boy Cavalier) performance was equally impressive. He took spoiled corporate d-bag to a whole new level. I have to admit, I wanted something more nefarious for him in the end, but I was happy with what was done, and like I stated earlier, there are openings for a second season.
The visual effects were breathtaking. Between the xenomorph, the octoeye, and the other assorted creatures that were contained, the visual effects team had their hands full. I have to admit, whoever came up with the concept for the octoeye was a genius. I have seen hundreds of memes and people making a model of the octoeye out of LEGO.
This whole season was a science fiction-loving, ALIEN fanboy’s dream!
This show is perfect for cyberpunk enthusiasts, ALIEN franchise lovers, creature lovers, cyborg lovers, synth lovers, and anyone who loves quality television.
The entire series is 5 remote controllers out of 5!
