Hey there, television lovers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ. Today, I am taking a look at episode 8 of Dexter: Resurrection. I have coffee in my system and my thinking cap on, so let’s do this!
We are closing in on the last two episodes, and things are getting tight. Dexter makes a mistake, Batista makes a mistake, Harrison goes to bed, and Prater makes a discovery. BUT…Dexter also steps up as a dad in an awesome way. Can it be our favorite serial killer is getting in touch with his human side? Can he come over to the light side?
I loved the pacing of this episode. Everything flowed from one scene to the next like a well-rehearsed ballet. The entire cast made it look so damn easy, and it looks like they had a lot of fun. What was interesting for me was Harrison going on a date and ending up in bed with the girl, as if it were an everyday occurrence for him, but it isn’t. I have the feeling this girl is not everything she is cracked up to be and may end up being the chink in his armor.
With all of this going on, it is easy to forget the elephant in the room: The New York Ripper. Will we see who it is by the end of the season? (The internet is taking bets on who it is.) What’s more, will Dexter take care of him in his own special way? This far into the season, The Ripper has to be someone we met by now. That is, if you are going to go by the rules of good mystery writing.
The episode was well written and well-acted, and there is still enough mystery there to fill two more episodes (and maybe a sequel, are you listening, Guys?). What I do know is that we are heading towards a showdown between Batista and Dexter. My gut says Batista will be on Dexter’s table. But that would break Dexter’s code. The end is going to be a bit messy. Maybe more than a bit.
The season has been a whirlwind so far, and I think this twister is going to go to F5. There are so many ways this can end, and it is leaving this particular fan guessing, and that is the true magic of the show and its writers.
This episode is perfect for fans of misdirection and great acting!
