Hey there, book lovers! It’s your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes Loves Books Headquarters. Today, I have my review of DCeased: Dead Planet. I have coffee in my system and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!

A mathematical equation has turned the human race, as well as some of Earth’s mightiest heroes, into mindless zombies. It figures, math kills the world. A few years after this apocalypse, a distress beacon brings Damian Wayne (Batman), Jon Kent (Superman), and Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Woman) from Earth-2 to our world. Is it a trap?

This book explores the magic side of things by bringing in Zatanna, John Constantine, and Swamp Thing. What is great about it is that it is not a story about waving a magic wand and reversing everything. The heroes have to work from the start to find the answers they need and a possible cure. There’s a cure? I’ll never tell, but I will say math has not been outlawed.

This volume picks up several years after the events of DCeased. As stories go, it had me on the edge of my seat. The writing is fluid throughout the entire book. Tom Taylor knocked this one out of the park. The art team also did a bang-up job on this. IF I had to pick a downside, it would be that you have to know what happened in volume 1. If you are not familiar with the events of DCeased, you might get lost, or it will not have the emotional punch I got from being familiar with previous events.

This book is perfect for fans of the DC Universe, Zombie stories, and tales of magic.
