Elizabeth Ramos, under the supervision of Kali the cat, talks about the fashionable, high maintenance side of magic for this Witchy Wednesday.
With sundress and bright/colorful patterned clothes season approaching, it’s time to talk glamor magic witches! And yes, this post is even for the non-coordinated and non-fashionista witches, because we use glamor magic ALL THE TIME. Even when we don’t realize it.
As social beings, glamor magic is all around us. Glamor magic is all about how we use our clothes, style, and personality to achieve outcomes we want/influence others’ perceptions of us and attract positive opportunities. For example, when you go to a job interview, are you arriving in ripped jeans, flip-flops, and a Playboy Bunny tee, or are you showing up in a nice dress/skirt and shirt/pants and shirt set? Are you going with a bonnet on your head, or did you style your hair? Make-up? Are you wearing red, which is often seen as a power/leadership color? These may seem irrelevant and mundane points, but we have to remember that witchcraft is not just the aesthetics Tik-Tok portrays of us. Don’t get me wrong, I am itching for some gorgeous velvet ritual robes, but I can’t show up to my job at the casino in them to book spa and dinner reservations for Forbes guests.

I hope this doesn’t need to be said, but as a reminder: glamor magic is not to deceive or create false appearances about yourself. Glamor magic is not like flicking a magic wand and changing everything about yourself and your own natural beauty. It is designed to simply amplify and showcase your own self-confidence and beauty to other people.
Glamor magic rituals come in various forms. Many come from self- care practices, including making sure to take care of your skin so you can have a flawless base to work with, and making sure you have your laundry caught up with and put away correctly for the perfect outfit at your fingertips. When doing skincare, some witches will write the runes of protection and prosperity in the moisturizer before rubbing it in to activate those properties. Other witches make sure to bottle and save their moon water, to use for face washing or make their morning drink of choice with it to absorb the properties of the moon cycle that day (I especially like to do this during transformative lunar/solar events to give extra OOMPH to my own manifestations. Crystal and herbal sachets can also be used and carried to bring peaceful, loving vibes to the practitioner and allow them to radiate that energy around them. I used to work at a holistic Ayurvedic resort, and my desk was adorned with crystals and calming statues. Many visitors to our office would naturally gravitate to my space to stand and unknowingly absorb those energies for themselves before leaving.
Color magic also plays a role in glamor magic. Like I mentioned red being a power color, other colors can have an impact on your message. I personally love yellow, as it is bright and reminds me of the sun. When I wear it, I notice others around me are also bright and happy, and see me as a positive person.
Tattoos, piercings, and jewelry also are glamor magic. They are additional energy and enhancers of what you want to convey. I have a hamsa tattoo that has the eye in the lower palm, a pentacle on the fingers, and a lotus with three dots directly above the middle fingertip (highest point) on my left arm. This was done for protection purposes, and also to encourage/promote change and transformation in a prosperous way. It is a beacon for other witches/spiritualists to find someone safe to talk to. When I wear crystal jewelry, I make sure it matches the energy of the day. If I need to be diplomatic, I will do Tiger’s Eye. I am also conscious of scents and the magic of scents, so on days I want to have extra strength or be seen as the irresistible, obvious choice, I wear my jasmine perfume made by AromaG’s Botanica (made by Papa G and his amazing witch team in Tennessee – this particular scent is named Kali for the Hindu Goddess). If I want to be seen softer or gentler, I will use a garden or light floral scent. If I feel bold and daring, I use a “deeper” pomegranate scent.
When manifesting and creating new opportunities, be mindful of the energy and visual vibes you are putting out there. I’m not saying you can’t wear any colors you want whenever you want to and won’t get amazing results. You can and will. Glamor magic simply gives a boost to the already amazing foundation you have already created to give you a little OOMPH! However you do sundress season, own your confidence and make shit happen witches! You’ve got this!
