LGBTQ+ Voices in Dark Fiction

The horror and dark fiction genres have historically been dominated by traditional narratives, often marginalizing or underrepresenting LGBTQ+ voices. However, in recent years, LGBTQ+ authors have increasingly made their mark on these genres, bringing fresh perspectives and challenging conventional tropes.

It’s important for us to embrace diversity in horror and it begins with the voices who have been silenced and oppressed. It begins with an open mind and a desire to not only encourage change but to be facilitators of it.

LGBTQ writers are not only crafting complex, queer characters but they also exploring themes like identity, alienation, and survival in ways that resonate deeply within the horror community.

Representation empowers the reader to see themselves through the eyes of characters who are relatable.
