NINETOES VS ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE REDUX

Ninetoes has been playing Elder Scrolls Online for ten years, and now a new era has started. Is he happy about this?

Hey there, gamers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes HQ with a look at a new era for Elder Scrolls Online. I have coffee in my system and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!

There is a new rewards system in Elder Scrolls Online, as well as a new way of playing new content. Let’s take a look, starting with the new content.

Gone are the days of blowing mega bucks to get the new expansion. The developers of Elder Scrolls Online, Bethesda games, have done away with the annual expansions that players had to purchase (and believe me, big bucks were involved if you wanted ALL of the goodies) in order to play the new areas. Now, it is a chapter-based system, much like you will see in Fallout 76. The new chapters drop quarterly, and is available for all players. As of this writing (Friday, April 03, 2026) we have 97 days left in the season.

The new rewards system is called “Tamriel Tomes.” When you log in, go to your tab for inventory, skills, etc., and at the top, you will see “Tamriel Tomes.” You will see a list of rewards you can purchase as you go along with your acquired tomes. To see what you have to do to get these tomes, go to the top of the rewards page, and you will see a tab called “View Challenges”, hover on that, hit your “A” button, and you will see WEEKLY and SEASONAL. It will give you various missions to complete and a number of tomes you receive for completing them. You will notice a number like 0/5 above each line to the left. This is how many times you can REPEAT that challenge, and some of them are absurdly easy!

There is a catch. If you want the higher rewards, you will have to pay $24.99 to unlock them. So, it would appear that not everything is free. Now, the question becomes: Are you that hardcore of a player that you must pay the fee to get the higher items? In my opinion, it would have been better if they did this the Fallout 76 way, you can spend your tickets on whatever, but certain things are locked for those that subscribe to Fallout First.

The season we are in is called Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk. There are other things planned for this season. It started with a revamp of the DRAGONKNIGHT class (I play an Orc named Garaldh. If you see me, say hi!) as well as a revamp of the TWO-HANDED style of combat. Now, at first I was cheesed off that they would mess with the Dragonknights, but after making some necessary adjustments, it is for the better. Where Garaldh kicked ass, he now SLAYS! I have not tried the Two-Handed aspect yet.

Other things we can look forward to this season are:

*The Night Market Event Zone

*The first wave of player experience improvements

*The first wave of class and combat refresh improvements

*The introduction of the Gold Coast Bazaar

The Night Market event starts April 29, 2026, and will run until June 17, 2026. There will be more on that when we get closer to the event.

It looks like exciting times are ahead for ESO players! I, for one, am down for it!

Until the next time, I bid you happy gaming!
